Triathlon Bike Leg: The Climb Toward the Pearl of the Dolomites
Along the shores of Lake Santa Caterina begins the bike challenge: a 5,000-meter course to be completed four times, for a total of 20 kilometers and 520 meters of positive elevation gain. The decisive point of the course will be the climb of Provazei, on gravel terrain with steep gradients, already known as the key challenge of the final race of the 2018 Mountain Marathon World Championship.
The course: in the heart of untouched nature
After leaving the transition area, the course follows the unpaved cycle path heading toward the Auronzo dam, along the right-hand side of the reservoir. After crossing the Villapiccola bridge, the route continues along the gravel cycle path, passing through the Bucintoro finish logistics area. The course then proceeds toward Ponte Malon to tackle the steep and demanding climb of Provazei. An equally challenging descent toward the Stella Alpina bar marks the final section of the loop.
Technical details:
-Distance: 20 km.
-Elevation gain: +520 meters.
-Terrain: Compact gravel.
-Safety: The use of an approved helmet is mandatory for the entire duration of the bike leg. Safety comes before everything else: respect both the rules and the territory that welcomes you.
