GT3 LAVAREDO – Gravel Cross Triathlon
Triathlon bike frames: the ascent toward the pearl of the Dolomites
From the shores of Lake Santa Caterina begins the bike challenge of the GT3 LAVAREDO Gravel Cross Triathlon. The second leg is a vertical journey of 27 km with 970 meters of elevation gain, a breathtaking ride that will take you from the valley floor of Auronzo di Cadore up to the 1,754 meters of Lake Misurina.
The course: in the heart of unspoiled nature
Leaving the transition area behind, the route winds along the unpaved cycle path that climbs the valley. It is not just a test of strength, but an immersion in natural environments of rare beauty:
● The Somadida Forest: you will pedal in the silence of a millenary forest, once a timber reserve of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, where the shade of tall fir trees will accompany you on the first ramps of the climb.
● Val Bona: you will pass through bucolic landscapes and alpine pastures that seem straight out of a postcard, a paradise for nature lovers where fatigue is rewarded by the purity of the air.
Gravel or mountain bike triathlon? Both
The route, entirely off-road but with a regular surface, is designed to enhance the characteristics of modern gravel bikes, but it is equally enjoyable and effective for those who prefer an MTB. The challenge is constant: a continuous climb that requires pace management and determination, but without extreme technical difficulties, leaving you free to admire the panorama.
The grand finale: the appearance of the giants
Arriving in Misurina is an emotional moment. As the gradients ease, you will find yourself facing the spectacle of Lake Misurina, an enchanted body of water dominated by the unmistakable, legendary silhouette of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. This is where you breathe the pure air of true mountains.
