GT3 LAVAREDO – Gravel Cross Triathlon

Triathlon run frame: the final “From the Lake to the Sky” challenge

After swimming in the waters of Lake Auronzo and riding up the valleys on your bike, it is time to put all your grit on the ground. The third leg of the GT3 LAVAREDO Gravel Cross Triathlon is more than a run: it is an ascent toward legend. 7.5 km with 580 meters of elevation gain separate you from glory, at the feet of the stone giants.

The course: an amphitheater of rock and crystal

The run leg of this triathlon starts from the shores of Lake Misurina, the “Pearl of the Dolomites.” The first steps will take you along the lakeside, with your gaze inevitably drawn upward, where the sharp spires of the Cadini di Misurina seem to touch the clouds.

The passage at Lake d’Antorno: the trail enters a magical landscape leading to Lake d’Antorno. Here, if you manage your breathing well, you will see the Tre Cime di Lavaredo perfectly reflected in the water: it is the sign that the finish is near.

Alpine Trail 101: from here the real ascent begins. You will take the historic Trail 101, the gateway to the most famous natural amphitheater in the world. You will run (or fast-hike) surrounded by absolute verticality, until you reach the coveted finish line at Rifugio Auronzo, at an altitude of 2,333 meters.

Recommended equipment

The terrain is predominantly alpine, made up of beaten paths, roots and rocks.

Footwear: trail running shoes are strongly recommended to ensure maximum grip and protection on technical sections.

Poles: for those who want to optimize effort and protect their joints during the ascent, the use of poles (Alpinstocker) is permitted (and recommended). They will be your best allies on the final ramps toward the Rifugio.

The Meaning: “From the Lake to the Sky”

It is here, at the finish line, that you will understand the true spirit of the GT3 LAVAREDO Gravel Cross Triathlon. Our slogan is not just a figure of speech:

“From the Lake to the Sky” means that, from the starting point in Auronzo, you can raise your eyes and see the finish point up there above. And once you cross the finish line at Rifugio Auronzo, you can turn around, look down, and see—tiny and far away—the mirror of water where it all began.

A physical, visual and emotional achievement that you will carry with you forever.
